Lots and lots of sun

The weather in Sweden has been awesome recently.  Everyone all winter was saying "just wait for spring" which took forever but we have made it.  It was a long and hard winter but now it is 60's and sunny every single day.  Uppsala surprisingly doesn't get much rain at all.   About 20 inches a year so about the same as Boulder or a third of what Maine gets.  The sun now rises at about 515 and goes down around 830.... and there is still 2 months until the summer solstice.

I started a little soccer group named Uppsala FC (football club).  We play 3 to 4 times a week so that has been great.  The Facebook group has climbed to 54 members.  About 10 people are regulars and play every time but on a couple of real nice days we had about 20 show up for some pick up soccer.  Playing soccer or any sport is a great way to meet people so the group has been beneficial for everyone.
We play on the dirt field on weekends when the turf field is taken

We have had a couple of fun BBQs right in front of our building which has 2 outdoor grills.  All of the swedes are outside like I have never seen before.  It is like they have come out from hibernation.  Even when it was 40 degrees a few of them were sunbathing on the rocks in front of the building.  Only in sweden.

I have a 15 page paper due next monday for my Holocaust class then I will be onto my last class.  Next week I want to try and go to Helsinki or Latvia on one of the super cheap cruises since it is finally warm in those places.  It is going to be harder to travel outside of Sweden now that it is so warm and sunny here but I still need to see a lot of Scandinavia since I am up here.

Jesse and I are having an American BBQ for a bunch of our friends in a couple weeks.  Hamburgers, corn on the cob,  chocolate chip cookies and watermelon.  We are also making an Apple pie because our Dutch friends think that the apple pie is dutch.  We are going to prove them wrong.

*If you have any food or drink suggestions for the American BBQ let me know!
